Officers Recognized For Live-Saving Effort

Prince William County police recognized three officers as Officers of the Month.

Three officers were named Officers of the Month for how they responded to a suicidal man who was armed with a knife.

The event happened Sept. 8 on Portsmouth Road in Manassas. The man reportedly consumed a large number of pills. Lt. R. Bardon found the man, who was holding a folding knife to his throat, inside a shed. 1st Sgt. D. Grinnell, who is a trained negotiator, calmed the man down before Officer L. Dean used a taser to disarm the suspect.

No one was seriously injured and police took the man to the hospital.
