About Dan
Dan Telvock is a native of Ithaca, NY, and he has been a journalist since 1998. He started his career in radio journalism as a news anchor in 1998. He also did a little bit of television broadcasting and interned at Channel 5 in Syracuse. He has won numerous investigative reporting awards, including three first-place Virginia Press Association awards and a "Best in Show" award.
He has lived in Virginia since 1999. When he is not reporting and writing, Dan is watching the Dallas Cowboys or Atlanta Braves, restoring vintage bicycles, playing his bass guitar or painting.
Your Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. I am a moderate and do not vote by any party line. I am registered as an independent.
Religion
I was raised Catholic and I was baptized at age 5.

I don't get it...you are or are not in Fredericksburg? Your bio says you're "registered as an independent", but we don't register as anything in Virginia. And then the tagline on your photo says you were known for riding your bike to news stories in Fredericksburg, but I don't see any mention of your work here. I'm just trying to understand better the source of these news stories. Is this site something similar to The Digitel in Charleston, South Carolina, where they pull from other sources? Even the ads on the Fredericksburg page aren't local...they're from places in NoVA. Confused!?

Nice article on UMW kids getting in trouble and its direct link to athletes. Hope you enjoy your journalism career for "The Patch" Distasteful writing and posting kids names and charges for no apparant reason. They are in college and still learning from mistakes, better now then later.but yet you want to throw salt on the wounds of 21 year olds.

Hi Bryce, No, I don't run Fredericksburg Patch. I help co-manage a dozen sites from here to Reston, Leesburg and Ashburn. Michael Theis does a great job with Fredericksburg Patch and I work with him a lot. Good hearing from you and good luck Tuesday
