Dan keep up the good work. Keep reporting the truth. Please try to find out why the captain was not sent to jail to await his trial, while most people indicted in Stafford on one felony.are not allowed out on bond.

I don't get it...you are or are not in Fredericksburg? Your bio says you're "registered as an independent", but we don't register as anything in Virginia. And then the tagline on your photo says you were known for riding your bike to news stories in Fredericksburg, but I don't see any mention of your work here. I'm just trying to understand better the source of these news stories. Is this site something similar to The Digitel in Charleston, South Carolina, where they pull from other sources? Even the ads on the Fredericksburg page aren't local...they're from places in NoVA. Confused!?

Hi Bryce, No, I don't run Fredericksburg Patch. I help co-manage a dozen sites from here to Reston, Leesburg and Ashburn. Michael Theis does a great job with Fredericksburg Patch and I work with him a lot. Good hearing from you and good luck Tuesday

"At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know."
YOU HAVE FAILED.

The the word bullshit is that bad, or half ass, give me a break your nothing but a one sided reporter.
Nothing said should have been offensive I was truth.
It just sad to see that your Blog is going to ruin a good election by publishing ill founded complaints.
I believe as a reporter you should research the HATCH ACT OF 1939 and you will see that it not even close to fitting. Lt. Col. Timm position is not funded by the Federal grant, which is the only issue. If it did it would only mean that he could not run at all it would have noting to do with him running in uniform. If you read the list of who can not campaign in uniform it is only for Federal and DC employees.
So when you publish misleading information you hurt the credibility of the canidate.
As someone who publishes news you should be the first to realize that the Spotsylvania Sheriff's office is top notch and not only keep the crime stats at a lower level than the surrounding area but are proactive and solve 95% of major cases.
If you would research the Department of Justice Service Asset seizure you would see that Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office has been one of the top five Sheriff's office is the past five years and that is inculding that they share their contribution with not only the Commonwealth Attornys Office but also the AG's Office.
Its this kinda of leader ship you should really want to see continuing

Dan, send me your email and I will send you how you and I started a few emails. Yes I worked for the County and my name is James Applegate, it's not made up or a cover. I stood by you many times when you covered the BOS but you didn't know my face and sounds like you don't remember my email either. So give me a email and I'll refresh.

I find that the local newspapers just print what the county says and they really don't talk to people or investigate the real story. Most people in Stafford are aware of the curruption in our court system including the police. Why is it that an investigative reporter doesn't have any idea that curruption is florishing in stafford. Either your are niave, stupid or in on the take. Hope you open your eyes, and return to true journalism and expose what many citizens of stafford county have already experienced. I would start with investigating our huge buget and where the hell the money is going.

Do investigative reporters investigate the crime both sides or do they just print the police report. Just wondering.

I'm not quite sure I understand your question. Colgan is the 29th District senator and Stuart is the 28th.
Colgan has long hinted about retiring but he has not announced.

Hey, Is it true that Colgan resides on Crockett Road which is now actually in the 28th district?
What's with that? Who is running for the 29th Senate Seat?

Rob, that video runs on all Virginia Patch sites Monday - Friday and the only day I don't do it is on Monday. You'll be able to type in "PatchCast" and get numerous choices. The file might be too big to send via email but I am sure we could figure out a way to get it to you

Dan - - - the video newscast you made for Reston is great! How often do you make those? I'm working on a TV-related project for AOL and I'd like to use your videos in a demo. Is there a "video feed" of your patch video work I could tap into?
