Jody you are the one that can't see that there will always be a political link with raising theRead More minimum wage. So there will NERVER be a good time to raise the minimum wage for republicans politically. ----- Jody if you see a good time to raise the minimum wage other than the present PLEASE point it out. ----- It couldn't possibly be a non-election time since politicians are running and lying for office all the time even when they are newly elected.

How about after we gain control of our borders and deport about 30 million illegal aliens? OfRead More course, then we won't have to raise the minimum wage; employers will have to compete for scarce non-skilled labor. Poor US citizens will be in demand and we could make in our own country's poverty.

How about after we gain control of our borders and deport about 30 million illegal aliens? OfRead More course, then we won't have to raise the minimum wage; employers will have to compete for scarce non-skilled labor. Poor US citizens will be in demand and we could make a dent in our own country's poverty. The statistics about poverty and hunger in America are bogus. Wonder what the real stats are when you leave out illegal aliens and recent legal immigrants?

Senator Colgan has represented his district very well and has always been accessible to hisRead More constituents. He has been a shining example of the importance of the family unit, which his votes in the Virginia Legislature reflected. Each person who drives the expanded lanes of I-66 between Manassas and Gainesville (and soon to be Haymarket) can thank Senator Colgan for these lanes. When the Commonwealth of Virginia said that no projects over a certain dollar amount could be started due to budget cuts years ago, Senator Colgan was creative enough to break the construction down into smaller projects to meet the dollar amount restrictions. Senator Colgan was also responsible for the installation of traffic light at the intersection of Ashton Avenue & Rixlew Lane in Manassas. VDOT did not think it was necessary to put a traffic light at that interestion even though this intersection services both Stonewall Jackson High School and Ellis Elementary School. In addition, Ashton Avenue is a major commuter route for residents of the City of Manassas. We will certainly miss you, Senator Colgan. Enjoy your retirement!

Too many abuses of power to leave Dems in majority of the Senate. The country is at a tipping point.Read More This coming election in Nov. is pivital. Ed Gillespie is the guy for this one.

You are right about abuse of power, but both parties are guilty...

I'm sorry Chris but the Dems don't want any common ground. Remember Obamacare? The Senate passedRead More their Bill on Christmas Eve! Does that sound like people who want to find common ground? The only common ground they seek is when it's to their objectives. Whenever Republicans have any advantage, then the Media and the Dems talk about common ground. It's nothing but a ploy to back off our principles. That's why the defeat of Cantor raised so many eyebrows because no one thought he would lose. And it worries people like Wallst and company. Elections are contests of ideas. We shouldn't elect people to reach across the aisle because it doesn't work. Otherwise, people like Dole and McCain would have won.

I see your point. But just remember although the media reports that Brat is far right supported, itRead More appears he is actually not literally a tea partier. I'm glad he won. Overall I feel we need to reign in an out of control government. I'm not saying compromise your values - just chose battles wisely because if it's an "all of nothing" attitude I believe it will alienate the liberal vote. If you want to get in office go for the bigger issues at this time and don't hyper focus on reproductive rights and marriage etc... Several republicans I know feel this way.
Wallst June 13, 2014 at 06:39 pm
Patrick, I am completely satified with Cantor losing. It means that the GOP is TOTALLY controlled byRead More the Tea Party and there are NO moderates (Snowe, etc.) left and this is GREAT news for Dems. The GOP has closed their tent down to the size of a small teepee, and that will never work in a national election. Just think Romney and how Karl Rove had him as a sure bet. LOL

I want to extend my appreciation to the members of the tea party fringe of the Republican Party.Read More Without their assistance the Democrats could not possibly have won the top three spots in the Virginia State Government.
