Cinema Siren reviewed Battleship and says while it's not the next The Piano, it's most definitely ridiculous fun.
Battleship feels like a two-hour Navy recruitment video. I'm surprised blue and gold aren't the colors used on the movie poster, along with “GO NAVY!” and “BEAT ALIENS!” If you leave your brain at the front door of the multiplex on a day you feel like rooting for the home team, you could do worse than vacillating between cheering and snickering for those two hours of this completely ridiculous, raucous mash up of Independence Day, Pearl Harbor and Transformers. Director Peter Berg, of Friday Night Lights, The Kingdom, and Hancock, knows his way around the camera. So we can try to accept the fact that for some reason he feels the need to release his inner Michael Bay. What results is not exactly a good movie, but one that unapologetically …
Which would you prefer to see at Potomac Mills mall?
Wednesday, Potomac Mills mall announced that two new standalone restaurants would be coming to the outlet mall. A third restaurant has yet to be officially announced by mall management, but it has been reported that a Bahama Breeze would also open. The Cheesecake Factory and Bobby’s Burger Palace will start construction later this fall. A reader said he saw fences going up around the proposed location while waiting in a slug line Thursday morning. Two additional stores, The Christmas Tree Shops and buybuy Baby will open in the mall. In Fredericksburg, the same two shops have submitted plans to take up residence in a vacant Shoppers Food and Pharmacy building in Central Park. Last February, the mall closed 750 parking spaces in anticipation…

Last night, Woodbridge Senior High School senior Victoria Lafranchise won one of two annual $1,000 merit scholarships the Prince William Art Society gives to county high school seniors. For the past five years, the Prince William Art Society has awarded two annual $1,000 merit scholarships to Prince William County area high school seniors. In addition to monetary funds, the two seniors received a certificate, a framed copy of one selected piece from their submission portfolio, and a one-year membership to the society. Democratic U.S. Senate candidate answered questions in appearance at AOL's Dulles office.
U.S. Senate hopeful Tim Kaine said the federal government should chip in for the Silver Line Phase 2 — but that the commonwealth also needs to pay a bigger share than the $150 million it has promised to ensure it gets built as scheduled. "What we are seeing in Washington is an anti-investment mentality," Kaine (D) told a group at AOL's Dulles headquarters Thursday. He said he worked with the Bush and Obama administrations to get $900 million for the first phase and the next phase has centered on who pays for it. "I believe it is a project of federal significance because it links Dulles with the most important capital city in the world," he said. "But when it comes to the state being a meaningful participant, Virginia has fallen short too. …

Construction is anticipated to begin later in May.
Virginia’s largest outlet mall, Potomac Mills, will soon get bigger. The store announced it would be expanding its footprint with exterior, freestanding restaurants between the AMC Potomac Mills Movie Theater and Costco. Restaurants joining the mall are The Cheesecake Factory and a Virginia first: a Bobby’s Burger Palace, which is a product of celebrity chef Bobby Flay. This will be the first Cheesecake Factory in Prince William County. A third restaurant will be announced soon, the mall public relations department said. “Bobby’s Burger Palace offers 10 signature burgers, made with Certified Angus Beef, ground turkey or chicken breast, and a wide variety of sides including beer battered onion rings, milkshakes and more,” mall management …

In terms of numbers, on the 2011 survey date 566 people said they were homeless. This year, 467 said they were homeless.
