Literacy Organization Receives Grant

Literacy Volunteers of America - Prince William received a $5,000 grant from the Bank of America Foundation.

It takes a lot of money to keep a literacy organization going. an organization dedicated to helping adults improve their literacy skills, gets about 20 grants each year to help fund their activities.

On June 6, LVA-PW was presented with one of those grants, a $5,000 check from the Bank of America Foundation. LVA-PW Executive Director Kim Sells applied for the grant in January and was notified in May that the application had been approved.

Sells said the Bank of America Foundation’s funding priorities lined up well with the mission of LVA-PW. “The priorities of the foundation and of LVA-PW mesh,” Sells said. “We are all about increasing the literacy skills of PWC adults and helping many to build a path to self-sufficiency, and we are sincerely appreciative of the support from the Bank of America Charity Foundation.”
