17 Days of Summer: Time for a Cheap Wagon Ride

When is the end of summer? Not until you get a country ride.

By Greg Hambrick

School has started, but there’s still fun to be had. Today, Thursday, Sept. 5, you can hop on a wagon and enjoy a ride in the late-summer weather (about 85 degrees in the Dale City area).

The last day of summer is Sept. 21. Or, you can look at it this way: The first day of fall is Sept. 22. Patch has found something for you to do each day as we count down until summer passes us by.

Fairfax County Park Authority offers a wagon ride today in a search for birds, butterflies and blossoms. The moving scavenger hunt runs through the meadow at Riverbend Park from 10-11 a.m. The cost is $5 per person. Register online. For information, call 703-759-9018.

There’s more opportunities for a summer ride, too. For instance, trolley tours are available through historic Fredericksburg.
