Teens See the Big Apple on College Tour

Teens from the Hylton Boys and Girls Club got a chance to visit colleges and cultural sites in New York City.

Five teens from the Hylton Boys and Girls Club in Dale City joined teens from four other clubs in the greater Washington area last week for a three-day trip to New York City, where they toured colleges and cultural sites, and completed a service project.

The teens toured St. John’s University in Queens, Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., The Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, and The Art Institute of New York City in Manhattan.

The trip was funded by a grant from the Taco Bell Foundation that covered all expenses. "Through the tour, members gained insight into the different options for post-secondary education, explored New York City, developed friendships with members from other clubs within our organization, and broadened their horizons,” said Hylton Club Program Director Chad Merica.
