Nuclear Expert to Speak at Hylton

Dr. Huban Gowadia will be highlighting the annual Center for International Studies and Languages conference.

A nuclear detection expert will be the keynote speaker at 's annual conference in March.

The conference will feature Dr. Huban A. Gowadia, deputy director of the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office. According to a press release, Gowadia received a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Pennsylvania State University, and she speaks six different world languages. DNDO is an organization established in April 2005 to equip the U.S. to stop any attempts to use nuclear weapons or bring them into the country.

The March 3 conference will include breakout sessions on international topics, with presenters that include graduates of the CISL program. Hylton’s CISL program hosts the event, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

The conference is open to all students, parents, faculty, and members of the community. Registration is $20 for adults ($25 same-day registration), $10 for students ($15 same-day registration), and includes breakfast and an international food court lunch.
