Enterprise Elementary Earns Governor's Fitness Award

Enterprise Elementary School was one of six Prince William schools to earn the gold level Governor's Award for Nutrition and Fitness in 2011.

Sixty-six schools in Prince William County received the Governor's Nutrition and Fitness Award for 2011, and one school in Dale City received the highest level.

received the gold award, one of six Prince William schools to achieve the highest level of the award. The awards are given to schools for promoting healthy foods, drinks, and snacks and encouraging regular physical activity during and outside of the school day.

The awards are based on the Governor's Nutrition and Physical Activity Scorecard as part of the Governor’s Healthy Virginians Initiative. School best practices that promote healthy eating and physical exercise earn schools points, weighted at values of 10, 5 or 2.

Schools that earn at least 140 points, including at least 50 points for nutrition and 50 points for physical activity, are eligible for awards at the following levels:

  • Bronze: 140-159 points
  • Silver: 160-179 points
  • Gold: 180-200 points

Four Dale City Schools were given the silver award and five received the bronze.
