Home From Richmond!
Between now and November, I look forward to knocking on thousands of doors across Prince William County and meeting residents of the new 51st House District.
All Virginia General Assembly members (House and Senate) are home from Richmond after spending two months during January and February during the 2011 regular legislative session, after which we returned to Richmond on several occasions: Once for our 2011 Reconvened Session (to consider vetoes and amendments from the Governor), and twice to debate and vote on redistricting plans for the Virginia House of Delegates and the Senate of Virginia.
During the Regular Session, I was pleased to see passage of 13 of my 15 bills, which were later signed into law by Gov. McDonnell. A summary of my legislation can be seen at http://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?111+mbr+H210C.
Regarding the once-every-10-years redistricting exercise, the process is not perfect, but we navigated our Constitutionally-required effort to redraw districts to reflect changes in Virginia's population and demographics over the last decade.
