How to Register to Vote in Prince William County

Make sure you are registered or your current registration is valid before the Oct. 15 deadline.

If you haven’t yet registered to vote, the deadline is just a few weeks away.

Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day, and thousands of local, state and national organizations are mobilizing to make sure millions of people don’t miss the chance to cast their vote in this year’s elections. There are already more than 245,000 registered voters in Prince William County, according to August statistics from the State Board of Elections.

Nationwide, an estimated 6 million people didn’t vote in the 2008 elections because they either did not know how to register or because they missed the voter registration deadline.

The voter registration deadline in Virginia this year is Oct. 15.

The county's website has a lot of useful information for people who need to register or have questions about whether their current voter registration is valid. If you have moved from the address on your voter registration card or changed your name, you need to re-register.

Here’s information on how residents can register in time for the Nov. 6 elections:

  • Fill out a voter registration form in person at the county voter registrar's office at 9250 Lee Ave., Suite 1; Manassas, Virginia 20110. The hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Download a voter registration form from the 9250 Lee Ave., Suite 1; Manassas, Virginia 20110. It must be postmarked by Oct. 15.
  • You may also pick up a voter registration form at any Department of Motor Vehicles office.

If you aren't sure of the status of your voter registration, you can check it by going to the Virginia Board of Elections voter registration status service site.
