Neighborhood Leaders Group

7-8:30 pm (6:30-7pm social time) in Room 202 of the Development Services Building, 5 County Complex Court, Woodbridge, VA. Steve Stephens from the Prince William County Transportation Division will explain how to implement traffic calming devices to reduce cut though traffic and speeding vehicles in your neighborhood.

Increasing traffic accidents on the roads of local neighborhoods cause parents to worry for the safety of their young children. In response, many communities have installed traffic calming devices to slow cars down and help eliminate cut through traffic from their neighborhoods. Traffic calming is a combination of physical measures, such as the installation of speed humps and raised crosswalks that can be used to reduce the negative effect of vehicles driving through an area. The measures are meant to alter drivers’ behavior and improve conditions for other street users who are not in cars.
