Police: Officer Nearly Injured By Suspect's Car

Man arrested after Manassas Home Depot incident, according to Prince William County Police.

Police arrested a Woodbridge man after a police officer was nearly injured on Feb. 18, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. 

Jeffrey Brian Frye, 40, was charged with attempted malicious wounding of an officer, attempted grand larceny, felony eluding, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. His court date and bond information is unavailable.

Police initially responded Feb. 18 to the Home Depot at 7486 Stream Walk Lane in Manassas for shoplifting and grand larceny.

"Employees reported that an unknown man was inside the store cutting open packages and removing battery packs," Perok said. "The man fled out of the store and was spotted by officers in the parking lot. As officers were attempting to stop the man, he was able to get into his vehicle and nearly struck an officer before fleeing."

Officers arrested Frye near University Blvd and Wellington Road. No one was injured.
