A Dumfries man was arrested after allegedly firing a shot at an Exxon gas station last week, Prince William County Police said.

An officer was by the station near Jefferson Davis Highway and Wayside Drive Aug. 23 at 11:34 p.m., when he heard the shot and saw a vehicle speeding out of the parking lot.

The officer stopped the vehicle, searched the car and found a gun and marijuana.

Earl Douglas Newman II, 22, of Azalea Sands Lane in Dumfries, is charged with shooting a firearm from a vehicle. A second person in the vehicle, a 19-year-old man, is charged with possession of marijuana.
