Rash of Copper Pipe Burglaries Cause Dangerous Gas Leaks

Police are asking for information in a series of copper pipe thefts in Dale City.

A series of burglaries in Dale City recently have involved the theft of copper pipe, in some cases resulting in dangerous gas leaks and serious water damage.

Prince William County Police are asking the public for information in the burglaries, which occurred in homes that were vacant or under renovation. Seven of the burglaries were in Dale City and one was in Woodbridge.

The most recent burglary happened on Monday, when from a home in the 14700 block of Darbydale Avenue.

Other recent copper burglaries in the area included:

  • Aug. 7 in the 14800 block of Dixon Court
  • August 4 in the 14300 block of Fallbrook Lane
  • August 4 in the 14400 block of Chamberlain Place
  • August 3 in the 3800 block of Fairhope Road
  • July 26 in the 14300 block of Ferndale Road
  • July 23 in the 15100 block of Costa Drive
  • June 29 in the 14900 block of Concord Drive

Prince William County Police as residents to report any suspicious activity or persons around vacant homes and to report any gas smell or strange odor to 703-792-6500. Anyone with information relating to these cases is asked to call Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700 or 1-866-411-TIPS. You don’t have to give your name, just the information. You could earn up to a $1,000 cash reward.
