Police Updates: Halloween Candy Robbery, Carpet Burglary

Two teens reported being assaulted by a group demanding their Halloween candy.

A teenager was arrested after allegedly being involved in a Halloween night candy robbery in Dale City.

Two teenage boys told police they were in the area of Redwing Dr. and Starling Ct. on Monday evening when five unknown males approached them and demanded their candy. One of the group members implied he had a handgun.

The two victims refused and police said the group assaulted them, leaving them with minor injuries.

Police said they identified one of the attackers, a 17-year-old boy of Woodbridge. He was charged with robbery and assault by mob. Police said the identities of the other attackers are still being investigated.

A homeowner in the 1400 block of Ranger Loop told police that someone had tried to break into their residence sometime between 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 3:00 p.m. Sunday. Police said that weather stripping on the front door appeared to have been tampered with and there were pry marks on the door frame. Police said no entry had been gained and nothing was reported missing.

Carpet Stolen

Carpet worth about $500 was reported stolen from a vacant house in the 13700 block of Moccasin Court on Oct. 25. The property owner told police the burglary happened sometime between 2:00 p.m. on Oct. 24 and 12:00 p.m. on Oct. 25. Police said there were no signs of forced entry into the house.
