Police Updates: Grocery Store Robbery; Gunshot Hits Rec Center

A 16-year-old girl from Dale City was charged with robbing a woman at knifepoint in a Bloom grocery store.

A 16-year-old Dale City girl was arrested and charged with armed robbery after police said she robbed a woman at knifepoint inside a Bloom grocery store Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the teenager approached a 41-year-old woman who was shopping inside the Bloom store at 5592 Staples Mills Plaza. The teen held a knife and demanded money. She fled the store after taking an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim, but a witness identified her, and police arrested the girl on Wednesday.

Reports of several gunshots near Dale Boulevard and Minnieville Road around 1 a.m. Wednesday led police to discover an apparent gunshot that had struck the . Police said the building was empty at the time and no injuries were reported.

A televison worth abotu $750 and an undisclosed amount of money were reported stolen from a home in the 4600 block of Evansdale Road on Sunday. Police said entry appeared to have been made through an unlocked rear sliding glass door. The homeowner told police that the burglary had happened between 2 a.m. on Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday.
