Police: Armed Robbery Arrest After Marijuana Sale Gone Bad

Dale City resident Clarence Coleman was arrested April 17, Prince William County Police said.

Police have arrested the suspect in the recent marijuana sale turned armed robbery in Dale City, Prince William County Police spokesperson Dennis Jensen said.

Clarence Coleman, 20, was arrested April 17 and charged with robbery, attempted malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His court date and bond information is unavailable. Coleman was found at an address on Keating Drive.

Police initially responded to the area of Hillendale Road and Haddock Road on April 12 at 9:27 p.m. for a report of gunfire. 

Officers found the victim in the area. The victim told police he was at Harry Dawson Park waiting to sell marijuana to an acquaintance.

"When the man arrived, he displayed a shotgun and demanded the marijuana and the victim’s wallet. The victim handed over the marijuana and then a struggle ensued over the wallet," according to PWCPD spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. "The victim was eventually able to break free and run away. The male suspect began to chase the victim and, at one point, fired the shotgun towards the victim."

The victim has already been charged with possession of marijuana.
