Police: Pedestrian Killed by VRE Train in Dumfries Was From Woodbridge

A Virginia Railway Express train on the Fredericksburg line struck and killed a Woodbridge man in Dumfries Monday night.

A pedestrian killed after being struck by a Virginia Railway Express train passing through Dumfries on the Fredericksburg line on Monday night was identified on Thursday as 44-year-old Woodbridge resident James Michael Gullo, Prince William County police reported. 

"Further details into the death are still under investigation," a release read.

Gullo had been seen standing on the VRE tracks on Monday shortly before 7 p.m. as the train approached. He did not move in time and was struck by the train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
