Police: Marijuana Sale Turns Into Armed Robbery in Dale City

Clarence Coleman is wanted for robbery, Prince William County Police said.

A man is wanted in a Dale City robbery where the vicitm claims he was robbed in a marijuana sale gone bad, Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.

Clarence Coleman, 20, of Dale City, is also wanted for attempted malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The attached photo is from April 2012, and he is described as a black man, 5-foot-8, 150 pounds, of a medium build with black hair and brown eyes.

Police initially responded to the area of Hillendale Road and Haddock Road on April 12 at 9:27 p.m. for a report of gunfire. 

Officers found the victim in the area. The victim told police he was at Harry Dawson Park waiting to sell marijuana to an acquaintance.

"When the man arrived, he displayed a shotgun and demanded the marijuana and the victim’s wallet. The victim handed over the marijuana and then a struggle ensued over the wallet," Perok said. "The victim was eventually able to break free and run away. The male suspect began to chase the victim and, at one point, fired the shotgun towards the victim."

No one was injured. Robbery Unit Detectives identifies the suspect as Coleman. Coleman was not found at his residence in Dale City.

Victim Jose Canales Granados, 20, was charged with possession of marijuana. His court date is June 11, and he was released on a summons.
