Police: Man Stabbed in the Arm by Acquaintance

A 41-year-old Woodbridge man was stabbed in the arm by an acquaintance, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

The incident took place at 2:16 a.m. Friday at the 4100 block of Granby Road in the Dale City area. The victim told police that he got into a verbal altercation with Joel Alberto Melendez Veliz, 33, that escalated to a fight.

Police said that the victim was stabbed in the arm during the fight and was able to leave the area and call police. The victim had a non-life threatening wound to his arm.

Police later found Melendez Veliz at the 4100 block of Granby Road. When police found him, he became agitated and pushed an officer, according to police. He also refused to comply when he was told he was under arrest, authorities report.

Melendez Veliz was taken under arrest.
