Police Looking for Cop Impersonator

Prince William County police are reminding residents to pull over in a safe, well-lit public area when they think they are being pulled over by police after a report came in this week of someone impersonating a police officer.

That person allegedly stopped a vehicle between noon and 1 p.m. on Aug. 3 near Dale Boulevard and Ridgefield Road in Dale City. 

Police reports show that the woman reported to police that she was pulled over by an unknown male driving a brown-colored Buick.  

Police said the vehicle had white and blue flashing lights on the dash.

"The male walked up to the victim’s vehicle, displayed a gold colored badge and asked for the victim’s license," said Prince William County Police Department public information officer Jonathan Perok. "After looking at the license, the male told the victim to slow down before getting back into his vehicle and leaving the area. The man never identified himself as a police officer or stated why he had stopped her vehicle."

Police are looking for a black male between 30 and 40 years old, 5-foot-8, 200 pounds, medium build with short black hair and a moustache. He was last seen wearing a light-colored dress shirt and tan pants, police said.
