Police Advise of Fraudulent Jury Duty Text Messages

Prince William County Police alert that the text is not an official message from courthouse staff.

Prince William County Police are advising of non-official text messages sent to citizens claiming they have missed jury duty at the "Manassas county courthouse."

The message says that they are in violation for missing jury duty.

Police said via their Facebook page that this message is not an official message and was not sent by courthouse staff.

"The Clerk’s Office of the Courthouse does not send any text messages," said the police department's post. "If you receive a text message about jury duty, please ignore the message and contact the courthouse at circuitcourt@pwcgov.org."

Someone is really bored on this one. I would like more information on the content of the received text messages. Were they asking for "fines paid" for missing jury duty?

Joe, To the best of my knowledge, the texts were not asking for fines to be paid. Just that people were in violation because they failed to show up for jury duty.
