New Jersey Man Charged in Bus Incident

David Servais will be charged with threatening to bomb a mode of transportation and other charges following this morning's incident, which closed the I-95 HOV lanes for hours.

A New Jersey man is being charged with threatening to bomb a mode of transportation, abduction by force and multiple other charges after an incident on a northbound Greyhound bus early this morning, according to Virginia State Police.

Virginia State Police had to evacuate the New York City-bound bus, which was coming from Richmond, shortly after 3 a.m. The incident closed the northbound I-95 HOV lanes for several hours. The lanes re-opened around 6:45 a.m.

David A. Servais, 23, of Millville, N.J., is being held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center now. In addition to the above charges, he will be charged with drunk in public, possession of synthetic cannabinoids (spice), and fugitive from justice.

There were 38 passengers on board in addition to the driver. They were evacuated safely and a Prince William County transit bus brought them to a local Greyhound Terminal, police said.

Police took Servais into custody without incident. "Due to the nature of his threats, State Police with the assistance of a Stafford County explosives-detection canine thoroughly checked the bus for any suspicious packages. None was found," according to this afternoon's Virginia State Police press release.
