Mother Charged With Felony Child Neglect

Her son went missing early Monday morning for nearly 24 hours.

A Dale City mother was charged with felony child neglect after her 8-year-old son went missing.

A family member reported at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday that the boy was last seen at 8 a.m. Monday and never returned home. Detectives from the Prince Willliam County Police Department's Physical Abuse Unit responded to the call and at 7:30 a.m. found the boy at a residence two miles away from his home on Langtree Lane.

"Detectives further discovered that the accused, the parent of the victim, does not properly care for the victim and is often unaware of his whereabouts," Officer Jonathan Perok, a spokesman for the police department, said in a press release.
