Police: Man Dead After Teen Driver Travels into Oncoming Traffic

An unidentified Fredericksburg man died after a 17-year-old female driver drove into oncoming traffic and hit four vehicles.

An unidentified teenage driver crossed into oncoming traffic in Dumfries late Saturday night and struck four vehicles, including a driver who later died of his injuries, Prince William County Police said Monday.

The 17-year-old female was driving southbound on Dumfries Road, near Talon Drive, around 11 p.m., when she crossed into the northbound, oncoming traffic. The car struck four other vehicles, including a 2000 Mercury Marquis, Officer Jonathan Perok, a public information officer with the Prince William County Police Department, said in a press release. 

The 51-year-old male driver of the Marquis, a Fredericksburg resident, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. He died the next morning. His identity will not be released until next of kin is informed of the death.

The driver of the Jetta also apparently struck a 2012 Dodge Journey driven by a Pennsylvania man, a 2000 Saab 93 driven by a 27-year-old Dale City woman, and a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica driven by a 26-year-old Dumfries woman. They did not report any injuries. 

The investigation continues.
