Police: Man Assaulted Officers, Made a Commotion After Arrest

Jason Michael Batchelder, 29, of Woodbridge, is charged with several violations, police said.

A Woodbridge man faces multiple charges after he allegedly assaulted an officer and resisted arrest, Prince William County Police said.

Jason Michael Batchelder, 29, of Minnieville Road, is charged with malicious wounding, domestic assault and battery, destruction of property, attempted destruction of property, resisting arrest, intoxication in public and two counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer.

Police said that they were called around 12:46 p.m. Dec. 2 to Minnieville Road for a report of a fight. Two women said they were assaulted by Batchelder at his residence, and when officers tried to detain him, he "actively resisted," Officer Jonathan Perok, a spokesman for the police department, said in a press release.

"While being escorted to the police cruiser, he kicked the side door and towards the officers. Once in the cruiser, he kicked the window then spat at one of the officers. While before the magistrate, the accused kicked the window partition before kicking an Adult Detention Center Officer," Perok said.

Batchelder's court date is set for Jan. 11. He is being held without bond.
