House Fire Leads to Arson Investigation

The Prince William County Fire Marshal and Police are investigating a fire in Dale City on Sunday as an arson.

A fire in a Dale City home on Sunday was set intentionally, according to the Prince William County Fire Marshal's Office.

A single family home at 4811 Kilbane Rd. suffered about $35,000 worth of damage from flames, smoke and radiated heat in the fire that was reported around 7 a.m. on Sunday, said Capt. Curt Brodie of the Fire Marshal's Office. No one was home at the time of the fire, but Brodie said the smoke detectors were functioning properly.

The Fire Marshal's Office concluded that the cause of the fire was incendiary. An investigation in conjuction with the Prince William County Police Department determined that the house had been broken into before the fire was set.
