Group Assaults Man in Dale City

A group of men assaulted an 18-year-old man in the Dale City area Wednesday morning, Prince William County Police said.

Police responded on Aug. 28 at 12:26 a.m. to the 14400 block of Hereford Road, where the victim, of no fixed address, reported the assault. The man told police he was walking in the area when an unknown man asked to use the victim's phone.

"When the victim handed over his phone, he was surrounded by four other males. The group assaulted the victim before fleeing on foot," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said in a press release.

The victim reported minor injuries. Police dispatched a K-9 to search for the suspects, but did not find him.

The man who approached the victim to use the cell phone was described as 18-25 years old, black, with a thin build, unshaven face and black hair. He was wearing blue shorts and a red shirt.

The victim described the other suspects as white males, about 6'2" tall. No other description was available.
