Decaying Body Found in Woods

Police said that decomposing human remains had been found near the intersection of Dale Boulevard and Benita Fitzgerald Drive.

Surveyors working in Dale City Tuesday morning came across the decaying remains of a human body, police said.

The surveyors were working near the intersection of Dale Boulevard and Benita Fitzgerald Drive when they found the body in the woods around 11:30 a.m. Police said the body was badly decomposed and was located about 350-400 yards from the roadway.

The age, sex and race of the body were unknown due to the decomposition. Police are still investigating.

This the second such discovery in Dale City this year. In May, a in the wooded area near Dale Boulevard and Gideon Drive. The skull was later who had been reported missing in February. Police said in that case there were no signs of foul play.
