Cops Crack Home Invasion Case; Five Charged

In July, three men broke into a Dale City home, bound the female homeowner with zip ties, stole money and fled. They returned later that month, fired a shotgun at a a male resident, hitting him—but the victim fired back with his own handgun, hitting one of the men.

One of the men was struck and later arrested after seeking treatment at a hospital. Now, Prince William County Police say that they have identified and charged the four suspects in the two break-ins.

Police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said that the homeowner never reported the first break-in, on July 12 at a residence on the 14200 block of Princedale Drive. Several men entered the home, found the homeowner in her bedroom and tied her up by her wrists and ankles. The suspects stole money from the home and fled the scene.

The second break-in took place on July 28, at 3:08 a.m., when three unknown, masked men forced their way inside the same home. They went upstairs and confronted a 24-year-old man.

"One of the men was armed with a shotgun which he fired towards the victim. The victim returned fire with his own handgun and stuck the suspect before the men fled the home," Perok said in a press release. "No injuries were reported by the victim and no property was reported missing."

Later on, police identified the armed suspect as James Darnell Latimer, 29, of Francis West Lane in Dumfries, after he sought treatment at a hospital in Washington, D.C.

He now faces additional charges of burglary with intent to commit robbery, grand larceny of a firearm and abduction.

On Aug. 30, police arrested Justin Nathaniel Doyle, 25, of Greenmount Drive, Woodbridge, and charged him with burglary while armed, abduction, grand larceny of a firearm, burglary with intent to commit robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

On Sept. 4, police also charged Michael O'Neil Williams, Jr., 26, of Golden Gate Way, Dumfries, with abduction, grand larceny of a firearm and burglary with intent to commit robbery. Raeshaun Jeffrey Brown, 25, of Millwood Drive, Woodbridge, is charged with burglary while armed and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. David Leon Grantham II, of Salmon Run Court in Manassas, is charged with use of a firearm in commission of a felony and burglary while armed.

All are held without bond pending Oct. 8 court dates.
