Prince William County Police say that there have been some recent commercial burglaries in the Dale City and Lake Ridge areas, and they want to help business owners keep their valuables safe.
Police wrote in a note on their Facebook page that the burglars typically enter the business by forcing open a door or smashing a window during the overnight hours. They target cash registers and electronics. Several times burglars have been scared off by the alarm.
Police recommend that business owners:
- obtain a safe with a UL rating instead of simply hiding cash
- use a monitored alarm system
- install a surveillance system
- treat windows to make them burglar-resistant
