Arrest Made in Rape of 11-Year-Old Girl

Police updates for Friday, April 29.

A 29-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on charges of raping an 11-year-old girl in Dale City. 

Wilber Antonio Jovel, 29, of no fixed address, was charged with two counts of rape. Prince William County Police said Jovel was accused of raping an 11-year-old girl in the 3300 block of Beaumont Drive since February 2011. Police said the victim knew Jovel.

The victim’s family became aware of the incidents on Wednesday and notified police, according to Prince William County Police spokesman Jonathan Perok. Police located Jovel and arrested him later that evening.

The victim was treated by medical personnel. 

Jovel was held without bond. No court date information was available.

Burglary

A Dale City woman woke up with a stranger in her house early Thursday morning, Police said. The woman said she was asleep on the couch in her living room when she was awakened at 5:44 a.m. and found an unknown man inside her home. The man was startled and fled without taking anything. Police said he had apparently entered the home through the front door, which was unlocked. 

Police are on the lookout for a male between 18 and 25 years old. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap and shorts. 

Vandalism

A homeowner in the 3800 block of Fairhope Road reported finding a hole in her window that was apparently caused by a BB pellet. The homeowner said the damage had occurred sometime between Monday, April 4 and 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27. Police said the pellet had not penetrated into the building and no injuries were reported. 

Attempted Burglary

A home in the 3000 block of Acorn Court was the target of an attempted burglary on Tuesday. Police responded to an alarm at the home at 6:34 a.m. Police said a rear door had been partially forced open, but the deadbolt was still in place, preventing the door from being fully opened. Police believed that no entry was gained into the home and no items were reported missing.
