9/11 Anniversary Memorial Events Tonight

Prince William County will hold a 9/11 10th Anniversary Commemoration event, and there will be an interfaith prayer service at the Dar AlNoor Community Center.

Prince William County is holding a 9/11 memorial service Saturday evening, and Christians, Jews and Muslims will come together for an interfaith prayer service at the Dar AlNoor Islamic Community Center.

From the Prince William County government:

On Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at 6 p.m., the public is invited to attend a ceremony commemorating the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. The ceremony will be held on the County Complex at the base of the stairs leading up to the County’s Liberty Memorial. The ceremony includes a prelude by the Prince William Community Band and the National Anthem performed by the New Dominion Choraliers. We hope you will join us on Sept. 10th to remember the fallen, to embrace those who lost their loved ones, and to ensure that we never forget what happened on Sept. 11, 2001.

Joining us in prayer, will be our neighbors from Covenant Presbyterian Church and Congregation Ner Shalom.  We also expect attendance by elected and appointed officials from the Federal, State, and Local governments.

We are expecting the second floor of our building to be full, so in order to secure a seat we are requiring anyone who wishes to attend to RSVP via email to taalibah@daralnoor.org by August 31.

We would like to extend a special invitation to members of the Dar-al-Noor community who may have lost someone in the attacks or was a first responder on that day.  Also, any members of our community who are currently first responders, members of the Armed Forces of the United States, or are in law enforcement are encourage to attend in uniform.  We would like to acknowledge these members of our community, so please email taalibah@daralnoor.org with your name and position in advance of the event.
