Woodbridge Kickstarter to Design Travel Bags For Tablets, Toiletries

Designer Helm Ashiblie has until Saturday evening to meet his $10,000 goal.

Woodbridge designer Helm Ashiblie has designed bags for sports, law enforcement, military and the fashion industry for the past 20 years, and after traveling all over the world, he's learned that organization is key to a frequent flyer's sanity.

In a Kickstarter campaign that ends this Saturday, Ashiblie is raising funds to design and produce space-efficient, organizational bags for tablets and toiletries.

"Because of my line of work, I travel the world extensively," Ashiblie said in his Kickstarter video. "This project is 200,000 miles and almost two years in the making."

He's hoping to raise $10,000, and he's nearly there. The line of bags will be called AlphaOneNiner.

"Alpha One Niner was my call-sign as an Army company commander back in the 80s," Ashiblie said in the video.

Recon One, a tablet bag, also holds chargers, phones, and portable batteries, and provides easy access for charging your tablet or your phone. It also features a removable organizational caddy that can be clipped to the back of an airplane or car seat in front of you. It also has enough space for passports, boarding passes, and magazines.

The other two bags are toiletry bags. Ashiblie describes the Recon 8 as a "compact version of a traiditional dopp kit." It also features a mesh pocket to hold your small grooming tools. The final bag is a TSA-compliant, clear, zippered toiletries bag.

Backers can expect to receive their bags at the end of March. For more information, check the Kickstarter page
