Wegmans has recalled its store brand of flour for possibly containing small, blue, plastic balls, the Associated Press reports.
Wegmans has 81 stores in Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Massachusetts, including one in Woodbridge at Potomac Town Center.
The plastic balls are used in flour sifting equipment and are made of food-grade polyurethane, Wegmans representatives said. They do not contaminate the food and their bright blue color makes them easy to pick out.
Nevertheless, the five-pound bags of All-Purpose Bleached Flour have been recalled. Anyone who bought flour between Dec. 24 and Feb. 15 can bring their package back for a full refund.
So far no one has reported any injuries from the plastic balls, a store spokeswoman said.
