Weekend Planner: Water Park, Faire, and Art in the Garden

Want ideas for how to get out of the house and get some summer fun this weekend? Dale City Patch is here to help with your weekend planner.

Where/When: Leitch WaterWorks Waterpark 5301 Dale Blvd, Saturday May 28, 11:00 a.m.

Why Go: The Leitch Waterworks Park offers summertime fun with its assortment of pools, water slides and water obstacle courses. The park is open weekends and holidays (which means, yes, it is open Memorial Day) until June 17, when it becomes open on weekdays as well.

Pricing: $7 for anyone over 48”; $5.50 for under 48” or after 4:00 p.m.; children under one year old are free.

Where/When: 5621 Courthouse Rd, Spotsylvania, Saturday May 28 and Sunday May 29, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Why Go: This weekend only: Active, Reserve and Retired military men and women will be admitted FREE with I.D. as a “Thank You” for your service. Set in the late 16th Century during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, the New World colony of Stafford features period costume, shopping, music, hands-on historical crafts and re-enactments, archery, and jousting displays for children and adults, as well as food and drink.

Pricing: $9; children five years-old and under are free (this weekend only, military is free).

 Where/When: , 310 Mill St, Occoquan, Saturday May 28, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Why Go: Students will learn to create a tiger lily petal cane out of clay and use it to create multiple pieces (pendants, earrings, beads, etc)

Pricing: $30, including supplies.

Where/When: , 404 Mill St, Occoquan, Saturday May 28, 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Why Go: This is the last Saturday to come explore the artwork of David and Jane Ernst of Springfield and Roger Frey of Woodbridge exhibited in the garden of The Garden Kitchen Restaurant in Occoquan.  Roger Frey's "Diana Series" drawings are colorful pastels that explore human expression.  David & Jane Ernst use hands-on techniques to transform their photographs into images that have a painterly feel.

Pricing: Free.

 Where/When: 14090 Gemini Way, Sunday May 29, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Why Go: Come out to the Dale City commuter lot and check out the fresh produce, baked goods, jams, and fresh cut flowers. This is a great way to support local farmers and get fresh food!
