Weekend Planner: Sleeping Beauty, Adopt a Kitten, and Bingo

Want ideas for how to get out of the house and get involved in the community this weekend? Dale City Patch is here to help with your weekend planner.

Where/When: , 4167 Cheshire Station Plz, Saturday June 11, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Why Go: Want a feline friend? There are many cats and kittens for adoption and you can have your pick at this adoption event. All the animals are spayed/neutered and up on shots (unless too young).  Come give a cat a new home.

Pricing: There is an adoption fee and a contract to sign to make sure each cat gets a good home.

Why Go: If you are at least 14 years old and interested in learning how to kayak, then head out to Lake Ridge Park for this beginners class. Participants will learn how to control their kayak and get an introduction to boat safety, the equipment, and simple rescues. Participants may opt for single or tandem kayaks. 

Pricing: $35 for a four-hour class.

Where/When: , 14000 Smoketown Rd, Saturday June 11 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday June 12 at 3:00 p.m.

Why Go:  Local studio, DeGrasse Dance Studio, will present Sleeping Beauty ballet and dance ensemble.

Pricing: Pre-Sale: $12/child, $18/adult; Door: $14/child, $20/adult

 Where/When: Volunteer Fire Department Station 1306 F St, Saturday June 11, 7:15 p.m. (doors open 5:15 p.m.)

Why Go: The Volunteer Fire Department invites all to join in their Bingo nights. Non-smoking and handicapped seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis once doors open. Senior packages, for those 55 years-of-age and older, receive a free three-faced Early Bird Bingo card and a three-faced Bonanza Bingo Card.

Pricing: Varies, ranging from $1 to $20.

Where/When: , 313 Mill St, Occoquan, Sunday June 12, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

 Why Go: Come out for a Meet the Artist Reception. Deborah Herndon’s self-described "Riveting Images" are original photographs of architectural details and artifacts taken across France, Spain, and the United States. These images "freeze frame" details that reflect the culture of those who created them. The metallic print process saturates color slightly and adds an unexpected third dimension to draw in the viewer. All of the prints are limited edition, titled, numbered, and signed.
