Why Go: The Leesylvania Junior Ranger program is back for another exciting year! Each day they cover a new topic and introduce various educational activities that help keep things fun and interesting. It is a great way for you and your child to learn about the rich history and nature that is in your own backyard. For more information on exact days and times of program please contact the park.

Pricing: $60 per session per person; this covers all supplies, graduation certificate, t-shirt, and patch.

 Where/When: , 2001 Daniel K Ludwig Dr, Saturday July 30, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: Join other beginning photographers at the Leesylvania State Park Visitor Center for a workshop on the basics of camera operation and composition. Participants should bring their digital camera, manual, and a notebook. The first hour will be spent discussing the basics of camera operation and the elements of composition, and the second hour will be spent walking through the park to put into practice everything taught in the first hour. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes, and bring a hat and sunscreen if needed. Also, make sure to charge your battery before you come and bring a backup battery just in case!

Where/When: , 2001 Daniel K Ludwig Dr, Saturday July 30, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Why Go: Come to the Visitor Center at Leesylvania State Park and learn about the only mammals that can fly: bats! Participants will learn where bats live, what they eat, and why they can safely fly around at night. There will be three one-hour sessions throughout the day, beginning at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Pricing: $2 per person or $6 per family.

Where/When: , 2001 Daniel K Ludwig Dr, Saturday July 30, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Why Go: Come join a ranger for a guided canoe tour. Explore Powell's Creek and enjoy the wildlife and marsh plants while testing your canoe skills. Participants must register in the Visitors Center before the tour.

Pricing:  $9 per person or $6 when reserving for groups of four or more.

 Where/When: , 2001 Daniel K Ludwig Dr, Sunday July 31, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Why Go: Come join a ranger on a walk through the woods. Learn how the forest is involved in the water cycle during a trek by the wetlands and experience a beautiful overlook of the creek while on your hike. Participants should meet at the Powell's Creek Trailhead. There will be two one-hour sessions throughout the day, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
