Photos: Dale City July 4th Parade and Family Fun Day

Thousands of specatators lined Dale Boulevard to watch the procession as Dale City hosted its annual parade and Family Fun Dayto celebrate Independence Day. The parade started at 10:00 a.m. and continued until noon.

Some of the participants of the parade included the Prince William County Police Depart bringing motor units, patrol units, and even a classic patrol unit from the '70s: a 1972 Barracuda. The Dale City Volunteer Fire Department brought and showcased much of their equipment including engines, rescue units, ambulances, and more. Classic cars, military units, and a large contingent of motorcycles dotted the parade through the length of the procession. Potomac Nationals mascot Uncle Slam made an appearance.

Organizations such as the Hylton Branch of the Boys & Girls Club participated in the parade, headed up by Branch director Keeyana Mahoney. A host of local churches had floats, as did the Omicron Zeta Sigma Chapter (Prince William County) of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.

Many elected officials and hopefuls made appearances in the parade and Family Fun Day as well. Officials such as PWC Supervisors John Jenkins, Marty Nohe and Frank Principi, Virginia State Senators Toddy Puller, George Barker, and Charles Colgan, Congressman Mark Warner, Former VA Governor Tim Kaine. Candidates included PWC chairman candidate Babur Lateef and Virginia state delegate candidate Mark Dudenhefer.

Following the parade, many people stopped at the commuter lot to participate in the Family Fun Day. There were booths available for games, information and/or public service tables, and vendors.

Some of the booths were the Prince William County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Prince William County's Mend-A-Home Organization, A couple scouting troops, and Hot Chicks hosting a bake sale to raise funds for the Susan G. Koeman Walk For The Cure, and Pastor Renee Marshall and her church Bethel AME Methodist.

All activities provided spectators, family, and friends a host of activities in celebration of our nation's independence.
