All-in-One Fitness Package with Free Week of Bootcamps

YBY Fitness and Nutrition has teamed up with the PW Ice Center to offer an all-encompassing fitness program to help you reach success. Free trial week April 16 to 20.

If you’ve been following my fitness adventures, you may recall the I did with YBY Fitness and Nutrition last fall. Well now I am very excited to find that YBY is starting a new program, partnering with the Prince William Ice Center, to make their fitness plan even more accessible.

Called “YBY 360,” this new branch of the company provides a total 360 view of your overall wellness: fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle/weight management coaching with a perfect combination of group support and personal attention.

“We were finding that several of our clients wanted to get out of the house and were missing the team aspect and camaraderie, so we wanted to provide that,” said Kristin Quinn, a personal trainer and nutritionist who started YBY last year. Furthermore, by offering group fitness classes, YBY was able to pull everything together in one affordable price.

“No more weight watchers over here and workouts over there and nobody’s getting anywhere,” she said. The bootcamp style group classes will run on a four-weeks-on/one-week-off rotation, allowing people to sign up for either three-days-a-week or five-days-a-week of classes.

What makes this different from just going to classes at your gym? Each person in the class will receive a one-on-one and nutrition plan before the four week segment starts, and the class instructors will take all the individual needs and goals of their participants into consideration when designing the workout class.

“When you are just going to classes at the gym haphazardly, that’s great, but you aren’t necessarily building toward something. There can be a lot of redundancy and the results can be hit-or-miss,” Quinn explained. “It’s so much better for the instructor to be able to create a class knowing the needs and goals of the people who are going to be in it, instead of it just being a guessing game.”

Then, at the end of the four weeks, you are given the opportunity to have another body composition analysis to see the progress you made and adjust and be held accountable before moving on. There is no long-term financial commitment required: you pay for a one month segment at a time and then analyze your results before moving forward so you don’t keep putting money into a program that doesn’t produce.

“Your days of wondering what to do when and if any of it is working, are over,” Quinn said.

The three-day-a-week program runs a strength and cardio mix style class on Monday/Wednesday/ Friday with three potential times to choose from: 6 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 7 p.m. The five-day-a-week program adds a metabolic conditioning class on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the same times. “And we can always add another time-slot if we get enough people asking for it,” she said. “So let us know what you need.”

Quinn said the one week off in between segments allows for people to celebrate their success and not get overworked. Plus it gives a week to reevaluate, reassess, cross train, and decide how best to proceed to reach one’s ultimate fitness goals. It also allows new participants to join and be taken into consideration for the class design.

Quinn also stressed that the “bootcamp” workout style shouldn’t scare people away. “No one’s going to be yelling at you. You’ll be treated with respect.” She said the bootcamp title is more meant to express the camaraderie, focus, and discipline that the classes will bring.  Working out with the same group of people for multiple days a week over four weeks is sure to create a team atmosphere.

The workouts will be accessible and challenging to any fitness level, she said. “Some places pride themselves and making people puke, but that’s not us. This will be aggressive and effective, but it is safe for everyone and everyone will be welcome and respected. There will be no yelling or screaming. We are all in this together and you should leave feeling uplifted and powerful, not beaten down.”

To give a taste of what these workouts look like, YBY is offering five days of free bootcamps from April 16 to 20, at all three of the time slots: 6 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 7 p.m. Preregistration is required, but you can come to as many classes as you want free of charge.

The first official four-week session will kick off on April 30. Preregistration for that is also open.

Quinn said the partnership between YBY and PW Ice Center was the Prince William Chamber of Commerce “at its finest!” The Ice Center contacted YBY about training their athletes and offering classes for families of those involved in their programs. YBY was already looking for a venue for their 360 program and when they explored the Ice Center found it the perfect fit. “We asked if they would be interested in offering more opportunities to serve the community at large during the off-times and they were thrilled.”
