Not Your Average Joe's Opening Pushed Back to Early June

Construction delays on the patio have shifted the opening date back.

Not Your Average Joe's is set to open on June 3, general manager Erik Larson told Patch. Though the restaurant was originally set to open on Memorial Day, the recent rain has slowed down construction on the patio. "Unfortunately we had to move back our opening to June 3 due to some construction issues with our patio," Larson said. The restaurant had to hire about 120 people before employee training began in mid-May. Other restaurants coming to Potomac Town Center include Nando's and Toby Keith's. Recent business stories:

Recent inspection reports from local restaurants and food vendors.

You may want to know how area restaurants performed in their last Virginia Department of Health inspection.  Restaurants in the Commonwealth are inspected between one and four times a year. Critical violations, unless corrected, can contribute to "food contamination, illness or environmental degradation," according to the state health department.  "In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations," according to Virginia Department of Health's website. Long Lines, Strong Cravings at Bobby's Burger Palace Opening

The celebrity chef was there in person for the public opening.

By the time the doors of Bobby's Burger Palace opened at noon on Wednesday, a couple hundred people were in line outside. "I got here at 8 a.m. this morning because I wanted to be first in line," Rebecca Voss said, holding a cookbook for celebrity chef Bobby Flay to sign. "My husband is a big Bobby Flay fan. He's my husband's favorite chef."  "I got there at 10, and she was ready to fight," Joyce Entremont said, laughing. Several in line wanted to crunchify their burgers -- to order the burger with potato chips on top.  "We haven't seen the menu, but we're definitely going to crunchify it." Patty Bennett said "I was looking at the Dallas Burger, maybe? And some chips on top," Shawnetta West said. "And maybe a milkshake."  Flay is known for…

Visited Bobby's for lunch. Only had to wait 2 minutes to order, however I waited twenty minutes for my burger. This was strange because they were well staffed. I ordered the Miami. Burger was 5/10- it was dry and more important...it was small. Not that every burger has to be huge, but for a $10 burger, I would expect something at least commensurate with Five Guys or Red Robin. Fries were above …   more ›

The celebrity chef will be there in person when the restaurant opens.

Celebrity chef Bobby Flay will open Bobby's Burger Palace at Potomac Mills Mall today, according to Bobby's Burger Palace spokesperson Marcus Braham. Flay will stay for the public opening at noon today, Braham added.  “Bobby’s Burger Palace offers 10 signature burgers, made with Certified Angus Beef, ground turkey or chicken breast, and a wide variety of sides including beer battered onion rings, milkshakes and more,” mall management wrote in a press release. Bobby's Burger Palace was originally set to open at Potomac Mills Mall in late 2012. It is the third restaurant to open in the Potomac Mills Mall parking lot. The Cheesecake Factory opened late last year and Bahama Breeze opened in January.  Other recent business stories:
