Police: Texts Threaten Death and Arson
Man charged with sending threatening text messages to Woodbridge woman, Prince William County Police said.
Police have charged Manuel Palma Avelar, 35, of no fixed address, with three counts of threats to burn and two counts of threats to kill after a Woodbridge woman reported receiving multiple threatening text messages between Feb. 22 and Feb. 26, Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.
On Feb. 23, Intelligence Unit detectives began investigating the text message threats.
"The victim, a 49-year-old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she received multiple text messages between Feb. 22 and Feb. 26 from the accused, a known acquaintance, threatening to harm her and burn her house down," Perok said. "No actions were taken by the accused."
After an investigation, Palma Avelar was arrested Feb. 28. His court date is March 19. He was held without bond.
