Police: Two Teens Charged With Raping Girl in Mall Parking Lot
The 17-year-old Woodbridge male was arrested March 1, Prince William County Police said.
Police have charged two teens, including a 17-year-old Woodbridge male, with rape after a young girl, 13, reported being sexually assaulted in a car in the Potomac Mills Mall parking lot, Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.
Special Victims Unit detectives began investigating the assault on March 1, a day after it reportedly occurred.
"The investigation revealed that the victim, a 13-year-old female of Falls Church, was staying with a male friend at his address in Woodbridge," Perok said. "Later that evening, the victim, a friend, and another male drove to a parking lot in the above area where the two males raped her. After the encounter, the males left the victim at a nearby location where the victim was able to flag down a citizen who contacted police."
The victim was taken to a hospital in the area. Two suspects were identified: the Woodbridge teen and another teen from Manassas.
They have each been charged with one count of rape. Their court date information is unavailable, and both are at the Juvenile Detention Center.
