Two Burglaries Net $15K and Car
Two homes in Dale City got hit hard by burglars this week.
A homeowner in the 14000 block of Ermine Court got a rude surprise after coming home from work Monday. A rear basement window had been broken out, and $10,000 worth of goods had been stolen, along with the owner's car.
Prince William County Police spokesman Jonathan Perok said the stolen items included two televisions, two laptop computers, various gaming equipment, other electronics and jewelry. The car, which had been inside the garage, was a beige 2010 four-door Toyota Camry with Virginia license plates XNU-2476.
The burglary happened sometime between 8:15 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Police are looking for the car and investigating for more leads into the burglary. Perok said the burglary did not appear to be targeted, but was probably a crime of opportunity.
Another home in the 14400 block of Filarete Street was also hit hard by burglars this week, again in the middle of the day. Police said $5,000 worth of goods were stolen on Wednesday, including two televisions, a gaming console and related games, and jewelry. The homeower told police the burglary had happened between 8:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Police said a rear sliding glass door had been broken out.
