Going Green: Adopt-a-Stream Events in March

Marumsco and Neabsco creeks need your help.

We're Going Green at Patch (well, we've always been green). Over the next few weeks, we'll be highlighting great, creative, local ways for you to help improve our local environment.

A good way to kick off your spring will be with these Adopt-a-Stream opportunities.

  • March 16, 9 a.m. to noon, Marumsco Creek Cleanup at Veterans Park
  • March 23, 9 a.m. to noon, Neabsco Creek Cleanup sponsored by WPCCA (off Neabsco Road behind WAWA)
  • April 13, Occoquan River Cleanup (details coming soon)

The PDFs attached to this post have all the details. Visit the Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District for more info. Trash bags, gloves and water is provided. Wear old clothes that can get muddy and wear long sleeves and rubber boots if you have them.

50 years ago I watched our streams being trashed and dumped in with everything,
All the salamanders and crawdads were killed with fresh water clams and will never return. Too little to late.
