El Charro: Genuine Mexican Cuisine
This casual Mexican restaurant offers great cuisine for good prices
A small crayon sign greets hungry guests at El Charro restaurant off Dale Boulevard in Dale City. This once fast-food building complete with the curved windows has been transformed into a genuine Mexican restaurant. Never crowded but always busy, this restaurant offers economic prices and a comfy atmosphere.
The cups of complimentary salsa are full of peppy flavor for all taste buds and puréed to perfection. No chunky salsa found here. The chips and tortillas taste home made. Slight cooking oil and salt remained on the fingers.
The tortillas were beautifully thin and always served warm. Creamy guacamole was paired with a $5.25 margarita that packs a punch. The fajitas came sizzling hot in a black skillet just as they should complete with all the proper fixings. And last but not least the sopapillas will satisfy your sweet tooth.
Families with small children and couples enjoying a quiet night out were scattered among the booths. Customers came and left quickly as service was prompt – except when ordering a second margarita.

El Charro is the furthest thing from authentic tasting mexican food. Yes the theme is surely mexican but thats about it. If this is authentic mexican food then so is Taco Bell... Not. The salsa taste like it was made from can tomatos. I ordered a burrito once and i got a plate full of lettuce. I told the waitress i did not order a salad. She told me that was my burrito. Well turns out my $8.00 burrito was no bigger then a tina burrito sold in grocery stores. I admit it did taste better. I would recommend going to On the Border or Tio Julio for better quality food. NOTE: For the price it is a value but for a few dolloars more you can enjoy real fresh food elsewhere.
