Church Windows Broken Out in Burglary

Police updates for April 19.

 

A laptop was stolen and several windows were broken out of Evangel Baptist Church on Monday, Prince William County Police said.

Police said that the windows had been smashed out with a rock sometime between 8:30 p.m. on Sunday and 5:00 p.m. on Monday. One of the broken windows had been used to gain entry. Police said the stolen laptop was valued at about $500 and damage to the church was estimated at $1,000.

Strong Armed Robbery

A 20-year-old man said he was attacked and robbed by two acquaintances in the 13900 block of Hedgewood Drive on Monday. The victim told police that one of them men had struck him from behind while the other stole property from him. The victim received minor injuries.

Police are on the lookout for two black males, both in their early 20s. The first was reported to be six feet tall, about 140 pounds with short black hair and a large tattoo covering his entire right arm including the letters “R.I.P.” The second suspect was reported to be about 5-foot-5, 140 pounds, with short black hair.

Shots Fired

Early Monday morning, witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the areas of Forestdale Avenue, Ferndale Road and Fairfield Lane. Police found shell casings in the roadway in the area, but no injuries or property damage were reported. Police are still investigating.

Attempted Burglary

A homeowner in the 13900 block of Lynhurst Drive reported that someone attempted to get into their home through the front door between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Monday. Police said that the inside frame on the door was cracked, but no entry was gained and no items were reported missing.

Burglary

A laptop valued at about $900 was reported stolen from a home in the 4500 block of Glendale Road late Thursday night. The homeowner said the burglary took place between 11:03 p.m. and 11:41 p.m. Police said entry appeared to have been made through an unlocked rear sliding door.

Intent to Distribute Marijuana

A Dale City man was arrested on drug charges after being stopped by police on April 10.

Ian Gabriel Byrd, 20, of 5576 St. Charles Dr., is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Police said that after stopping Byrd’s vehicle, officers detained him on suspicion of marijuana possession. Police said that a search of the vehicle resulted in finding 11 individually packaged bags of marijuana, a scale and other drug paraphernalia.

Byrd was released on a $2,500 unsecured bond. His court date is set for May 31.

Dale city sure has changed. Residents need to group together and patrol their neighborhoods, armed of course, and reduce the threats they may encounter. Why always go by the book? After dealing with the criminals in question, walk away and "clean up". Sticks and stones sure can break some bones!
